Beat at normal speed as Cody. This was a simpler version of the SNES final fight games with weird chibi characters. It probably has the most in common with #2 due to 3 playable characters and only 2 buttons. I tried out the other after beating. Guy was very fast but did noticeably less damage. I played Haggar without save states and got as far as stage 4 of 5 on the elevator part. He was slower while doing more damage, which I often found caused more chip damage from the faster enemies. Only 2 enemies on screen at a time was lame, and they would try to circle around to pincer. I mostly just mashed attack and threw in jump kicks as needed to quickly knock down enemies. There were occasional health and weapon pickups but way too few and far between. Seemed like each character had their own weapon. There were also special attacks that cost hp, and a pointless xp system to level up to I suppose unlock the specials. It was not like there were optional or skippable enemies, nor were there enough enemies ever on screen to justify using a special. They did help against bosses. Once I did a projectile but never figured out how. The bosses were not fun because they were pretty much only weak to 1 specific thing, either the super low damage jump kick, or a grab throw from below. Blade samurai was the most difficult because of the slow jump kick slog. The final boss was not too bad, being more like a puzzle to jump over shots and then punch while he was doing nothing. Unlike samurai who was almost impossible to approach. Overall a decent little game though shocking that it came out after the SNES Final Fight. It was worse than #2 but also on a more primitive system so a little tough to rate.
