With this long-expected sequel to the critically highly acclaimed and lavishly praised Deponia, the player enters round two. Chaos on Deponia turns out to be even wackier than its predecessor and instantly puts the player under its spell.

A disappointing sequel to a game I really like
This review is for the PC (Microsoft Windows) version

I never finished this one in high school, and replaying it recently was a painful reminder why. For most of Chaos On Deponia, it's not totally clear why you're doing what you're doing. There's a big knot of interconnected moon logic inventory puzzles that you just have to stumble directionlessly through. I wouldn't mind this if the game were funny, but it isn't that either. The original Deponia's humor mostly comes from watching the smug sexist main character fail, but here the whole tone of the game is just as smug and sexist as he is.

I dragged myself all the way through this one for nostalgia's sake and mostly only succeeded in making myself miserable. Good art and music were not nearly enough to make up for bad writing.
