giopep's review of Voodoo Vince

So...what should I do?

In playing Voodoo Vince Remastered, one of the achievements is to get every power skull. I did this. Yet my tracker stopped counting and is stuck at 77%. I've gone back through each level through level select and gotten them again, just on the off chance that that might fix it, but to no avail, and, no surprise to me because life hates me, from the research I've done, I am apparently the only person this has ever happened to. I cannot find a SINGLE instance - not a comment, not a thread, not a guide, NOTHING WHATSOEVER - where someone says they dealt with this.

So at this point, what should I do? It's the sole remaining achievement standing in the way of my 100% of this game. Should I just erase my save data and start anew? I'd play through the game again as it is by simply starting a new game, but I worry that - without fully erasing my save data - it wouldn't make a difference and in the end I'd still wind up with nothing anyway. So, tips?

This is SO frustrating.

I have...never run into something like this.

I've had achievements not pop, I've had things stop tracking, but I've never run into something where a game flat out denies its collectibles existence MID GAME. So, in Voodoo Vince, once of the collectibles is to get all the skull pages, and another is to get all the power skulls that appear as a result of getting all the skull pages. I did both. I got the achievement for the pages, while the achievement tracker lists my skulls at 77%. If you look through the ingame collectible guide, it even lists the pages as either 0/number or 23/23 as an example. But something weird happened. It also stopped counting pages existing altogether on levels where pages clearly existed beforehand, pages I collected.

I'm absolutely flummoxed by this. What's even worse is - as far as I can find - there absolutely no record of this ever happening to anyone else EVER. I really don't know what to think or make of this other than the fact that, okay, maybe I ran into some super rare glitch, I don't know, and if that's the case it sucks but the game is easy …

I really don't know what to think or make of this other than the fact that, okay, maybe I ran into some super rare glitch, I don't know, and if that's the case it sucks but the game is easy enough to go through on easy and do again, god forbid it does it again somehow during that playthrough. But I'm not even annoyed, and I'm not even disappointed. I'm just utterly fucking BAFFLED. This is SO weird.

This game is great until the last two levels, which are easily some of the worst I've ever endured, and with this collectible bug, that apparently has only ever affected me, it makes me really wanna be negative towards this remaster altogether.

Holy. SHIT. is the end of this game atrocious. It's amazing. Did they just run out of time? Money? What the hell happened. This is absolutely abysmal. How does quality drop so sharply in the final level?

I love this game but the sausage factory makes absolutely zero sense in how it works. A real mess of concepts, none of which are coherent and possible to understand how to work.

Man, I love this games aesthetic and humor and everything but there's no denying it...the second half fucking BLOWS.

Voodoo Vince is really hurt by some super unresponsive controls. But they also let me be a voodoo doll wearing a cowboy hat and riding a rat, so. You win some you lose some.

Finally getting to play Voodoo Vince after dying to play it as a kid but not being able to find a copy. I am so grateful for re-releases like this that make it easier to experience things I know I'd love but never got the chance to experience back when they first came out. Now if we could just get Stubbs The Zombie to get re-released...

I really miss these kinds of games, man.
