Marvel at the Sight

When it comes to games I've never been a big MMORPG fan. Partly cause I don't play many games on PC, partly because I've never cared for the monotony of grinding. When it comes to games I've never been a big MMORPG fan. Partly cause I don't play many games on PC, partly because I've never cared for the monotony of grinding. Marvel Heroes is geared towards either grinding or pay-to-win when concerning unlocking new heroes cause they cost a barrel load of "eternity splinters" which the game isn't too stingy on dispensing, but it isn't generous with them either.
You wonder, why do I even like this game so much if it's just a grind-fest? I'm a sucker for the Marvel universe. They give you plenty of characters to play as: from well-knowns like Captain America and Wolverine to less famous heroes like Cable or Magik; and even more heroes to serve as backup. They're all different enough and have lots of fun, unique powers. As this style of game demands there are plenty of enemies from the Marvel catalog and some interesting locations, though I'd like to have seen more variation, with most locations being a different area of New York.

Basically this game gets by by having the Marvel license. Had this been a WoW-type game where I was a knight beating up waves of trolls I'd have probably burnt out much quicker on this game.

A F2P Diablo clone, it's honestly fine for what it is. Gameplay feels shallow as there is little challenge, and mostly you aim for characters that have good AOE clear to farm mobs.

But one thing I must give this game credit for is the fanservice. The amount of random dialogue and occasional quips each character gives to another is staggering, and even the most obscure references get mentioned here. Skins as well pull from even the most least known comic events, and also include the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Overall, it's great for a Marvel fan, and you can play this casually as you like for free. Skins are cosmetic and you have to pay real money for them, which is expected. Again I have to give some special mention here to the more elaborate Enhanced Skins.

Want to play as Wiccan, Wanda's son? You can! Because he's (bizarrely) an Enhanced Skin of his mother. Complete with his own animations and dialogue. It made me quite happy that Vision acknowledges him as his son if you have that skin (considering he barely gets any interaction with him in the comics themselves). Hence why I appreciate this game's attention to fanservice.

More like Diablo than WoW but still a mix of both, this "MMO" is extremely well-done in terms of the source material. It's free, so definitely worth checking out for Marvel fans.
