Well shit, you can skip the entire first phase of the final Ketheric Thorm fight if you offer him repentance twice, once on the roof and again once you face him in the Mindflayer colony after passing a persuasion check that’s not terribly high for a character with Charisma. Well shit, you can skip the entire first phase of the final Ketheric Thorm fight if you offer him repentance twice, once on the roof and again once you face him in the Mindflayer colony after passing a persuasion check that’s not terribly high for a character with Charisma. It makes the whole fight much quicker, but you have to waste some time freeing Aylin, which you would normally do during the first phase. That makes it likelier that Myrkul will consume necromites while you’re working on freeing her, so I might suggest not skipping the first phase if you just was to focus on burning him down quickly for the achievement.

Oh my god, I missed this the first time I played the game. Found in The Waning Moon bar this is most assuredly a reference to Always Sunny in Philadelphia:

A third the way through my second play through and boy howdy do I love being a Bard. I think it’s going to be hard to convince me that there is a single better role to play as the main character. And I loved my first play through as a Druid.

I did it, I beat Baldur's Gate 3! Absolutely loved every moment, despite a few aspects of the game that lacked polish, particularly in Act 3. Still was easily a 5/5 experience and I'm itching to get started on a Dark Urge playthrough.

When games let you shove your friends into a poison cloud [when they deserved it,] lol

Made the choice to travel to the underdark before visiting the Goblin camp in my Bard play-through. It’s going surprisingly well. I love this game.

Big whoopsie!

Big whoopsie!

Microsoft completely misjudged Baldur’s Gate 3

Xbox dubbed Larian’s hit a “second-run Stadia PC RPG” before its release

To say that Baldur’s Gate 3 was underestimated would be, well, an understatement. Microsoft apparently didn’t expect much from Larian’s breakout hit, either, calling it a “second-run Stadia PC RPG” in a leaked email from May 2022 filed as part of the FTC vs. Microsoft case. That email included a chart that assessed upcoming games for potential inclusion in Microsoft’s Game Pass subscription service. While other games were rated on their “wow factor” — i.e., Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was marked at very high, while Dragon Ball: The Breakers was listed with a low wow factor — Baldur’s Gate 3 was marked Hub, and last on the list. (It’s unclear whether “Hub” refers to the Xbox Insiders Hub; games like Ubisoft’s Just Dance and Let’s Sing ABBA got the same distinction.)

The email exchange begins in May 2022, when Xbox chief Phil Spencer emailed several executives, including head of Xbox Game Studios Matt Booty and Xbox vice president Sarah Bond, to discuss the fallout from Starfield’s delay, before it was officially announced. The delay, plus unclear release dates for Redfall and Stalker 2, created a big gap in big games on the Xbox platform. “This is really a disaster situation for us given all we’ve invested in content across studios at our GP [Game Pass] content fund,” Spencer wrote. Spencer instructed the execs to get to work on making sure those gaps are filled.

“We set a very high bar in 2021 on quality and pacing of content which was awesome to see,” he wrote. “But to come off of that year with no big exclusives launching in 2022 is a portfolio planning miss that we can’t afford. If we need to delay launches (understanding there is a financial impact of that) to create more regular beats for us we need to do that. We have to all understand that the situation we are in now is a failure of our planning and production execution.”

Holy shit, quick and autosaves max out at 5 on PS5 and they don’t always seem to work if done in quick succession. Damn!

Robbing the racist and classist Druid merchant who can’t wait to kick refugees out of The Grove. It bothered me that he gave me a deal as a druid, but can’t wait for all outsiders to leave. Literally stripping him of all his wears now!

Lol, the Ansur fight is proof that I need to replay this on tactician mode. I hit wayyyy too hard at level 12 and with all the superb gear I’ve collected. I did manage to get Crash Landing though, which was nice. Looking forward to seeing what how this fight plays out in tactician mode.
