Graphics/Sound:
The graphics are simply stunning for the Genesis, and the animations are top notch. Only thing I didn't really like was some of the robotic enemies, which looked a bit like 3d converted to sprites, and I sometimes felt they don't really fit into the awesome hand-pixeled environment.

Gameplay:
It's a gargoyle platformer, meaning you have more than just the normal walking and jumping skills, You can flap your wings for extra jump reach, you can climb on walls and ceilings, and you can dash trough weak walls. You can hit and throw most enemies. The levels are decent and sufficiently varied too so this all sounds pretty awesome, but what I really found annoying was the controls in this game.
Difficulty:
The game starts out extremely easy, with you having loads of hit points and enemies not seeming to do much damage to you. But this changes with the end of level 1. I never got the hang of fighting, so every boss seemed super hard until I beat it out of sheer chance. Later on I had a lot of problems with holding onto poles for swinging. Just seemed like the Gargoyle didn't always want to grab it, and I had no real influence on that.
It's one of those licenced platformers of the 90s but this one stands out of the crowd with top notch animations and graphics, a consistent atmosphere and unique gameplay elements. My main complaint is the controls, so I can't overall rate it as high as many seem to do.
