Really fun game. Accessible, but there's so many things to consider with deck composition and combos. I beat ante 8 twice without really understanding the game yet, but I'm excited to play more. This is the kind of game that you can easily sink tons of time into. Haven't been sucked into a game like this since Vampire Survivors.

Help! I suggested to my wife she might enjoy Balatro on her phone, and now she won't answer any of my texts because they "interfere with her run."

I think I've created a monster

Picked Balatro up and have zero regrets. What a fun game. I never really considered card games, or card based games, as something worth spending gaming time on until a friend convinced me to try Inscryption. While just about every moment of that game is brilliant, it's the core gameplay loop of the card game itself that I stuck around for (Kaycee's Mod). I remember searching for similar games once I'd quenched the thirst I had with that game. I didn't really find anything appealing.

Balatro would have done it, there's no doubt. I love that you can spend as many hours as you want on it, or as little as 60 seconds. It's a good thing I got it on PS5 and not phone because I'd probably never look up from my screen. Though, I do need to make a trip to the DMV soon...what better way to pass the time in line?

Really though: it's good that I picked this up after breaking myself of hunting for trophies. Balatro's trophy list is challenging and requires a great deal of both time and luck. I don't mind dumping hundreds of hours into a game, but I think I wouldn't really be able to have the pure joy and fun that comes with a game like this if I had made the decision to go for the platinum.

I don't know how much they can expand on it, but it would be cool to see what else they can do with it. I think I've only played like 2 hours at this point so I'm really just scratching the surface. I just learned that you can change the order of your Jokers. Hell, I just learned that you can speed the game up. I probably won't, though. I enjoy the animations.

I think this will be one of those rare games that I come back to time and time again since there's really no end to it.

Joker: Face cards score x5 multiplier.

Me: Yes!

Joker: Face cards have 1 in 2 chance to give $2 when scoring.

Me: Yes!!!

Joker: All cards considered face cards

Me: YES!!!!!!!

Boss Blind: All face cards debuffed

Me: NOOOOOOOOOO!

I haven’t had such highs and lows playing a game since Elden Ring.

Well, they said this shit was addicting, I didn't listen... now I can't stop playing at least 1 or 2 runs per day. I suck at it, but I love it!

I finally decided to grab Balatro and while I knew it would be my type of game. I'm still really impressed. I've only beat ante 8 once so far so I haven't quite gotten to see the variety of decks, but the amount of fun ways to combine Jokers is a blast.

I think this game excels at forcing you to get rid of jokers that were once core to your run but no longer have a purpose. It's always hard to drop the joker who has been your ride or die from ante 1.
