Directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, with world-building contributions from novelist George R. R. Martin, the game features an expansive open world called the Lands Between. Players assume the role of a customisable character known as the Tarnished, who must explore this world, battle formidable enemies, and seek to restore the Elden Ring to become the Elden Lord. The game builds on the challenging gameplay mechanics familiar from the Dark Souls series but introduces a more open-ended structure with vast exploration, dynamic weather, and a day-night cycle. It offers deep lore, complex characters, and an interconnected world filled with secrets, dungeons, and powerful bosses. Read less

Somehow, after being pretty terrible at pvp, I recently jumped back in after months away and find myself doing shockingly well. Somehow, after being pretty terrible at pvp, I recently jumped back in after months away and find myself doing shockingly well. I've been turning on the Taunters Tongue everywhere I go to lure in invaders, and somehow I've consistently been wing lime 75% or 80% of my matches. Maybe all the pros are jn the arena, or maybe it's just that ican actually fight one on one this way. But I haven't felt this good at pvp since my Dark Souls 2 days.

Kinda getting the hang of this after some deaths. Getting killed by warriors on the road, by wolves, by optional bosses, just by anything really. Fought Margit and got my ass handed to me all the time, so I decided to explore a bit. If I had persevered through Nioh, maybe this one would be easier for me. Right now, …

Fought Margit and got my ass handed to me all the time, so I decided to explore a bit. If I had persevered through Nioh, maybe this one would be easier for me. Right now, I'm more enticed by the misterious aura of the lore than anything else.

So far, this has been scarier than Resident Evil. Never know when a pack of wolves is gonna drop on my head out of nowhere or something.

I know, I'm late to the party but I've finally finished my 1st playthrough of ER and I really loved it. The reason for the such lower undeserved rating is because I'm not a such big fan of open world games and what I mean by this is not that I hate them all but some games did it better than other such as RDR2 and The Witcher 3. Elden Ring haves this big open world with unique themes and stunning visuals that are so good looking it's basically porn for your eyes, except Caelid. Where it cuts short tho is after exploring the first 1/3 of the map the dungeons, the enemies and the mini bosses in the free world, those that spawn at night, are repetitive and the world is so big and so vast that after going through all of it I feel burnt and the lack of events that happen for example in RDR2 makes the world feel dead but in the end this is a problem that couldn't be avoided because souls games are supposed to feel that way, they are not supposed to show a beautiful and alive world, a world of order and peace because that world is already gone when first arrive in Limgrave and the dev's are making us discover that lost world by offering us cryptic dialogue, item descriptions and lore to piece together and see for ourselvs why is the world in the state that's in. The open world is my only complain, that and the bad performance of the game in some areas. As a side note, I'm a big fan of the original souls formula but it's not so bad that we get new entries in to the souls catalogue as ER or Sekiro because they have their on chance to experiment and improve over the formula. ER introduced the chance for the devs to try and make an open world game and Sekiro introduced the parry system for katanas which sadly wasn't introduced in the main line but who knows, maybe the next game will come with even bigger changes to the souls formula. My playthrough of the main game+DLC is 138hr but I went for as much % as I could, beaten every boss and did all the side quests, did all the dungeons, everything.

Feels like the primary way they added challenge to the DLC's final boss is by including a bunch of flashing lights which make their attacks intentionally difficult to see. Mission accomplished I guess, they're really hard, but the visual overload makes the fight zero fun to learn.

Arghh, made it to the final boss of the DLC and I'm missing exactly one Scadutree Fragment! Wanted to try to find them all, but trudging across the entire map again in search of a single item sounds immensely tedious. Thank goodness for the wiki.
