Elden Ring is an action RPG developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, released in February 2022. Directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, with world-building contributions from novelist George R. R. Martin, the game features an expansive open world called the Lands Between. Players assume the role of a customisable character known as the Tarnished, who must explore this world, battle formidable enemies, and seek to restore the Elden Ring to become the Elden Lord. The game builds on the challenging gameplay mechanics familiar from the Dark Souls series but introduces a more open-ended structure with vast exploration, dynamic weather, and a day-night cycle. It offers deep lore, complex characters, and an interconnected world filled with secrets, dungeons, and powerful bosses. Read less

okay I respecced into a magic/Loretta cosplay build and it kinda rules. feeling stylish and blasting people with my magic arrows. avoiding the temptation to do terra magica+comet azur on all the bosses. maybe elden ring turns into the only game I play lol

Every GOTY podcast I'm listening to is absolutely nutting all over the place over this game.

Yet I absolutely despise Soulsbornes after trying Bloodborne.

Is there any reason at all for me to even think about playing Elden Ring?

Thanks to taking two weeks off of work for the holidays, I've been getting to spend more time with this game, and I'm still amazed at how many new things I'm still finding, even though I'm pretty far into it now. I've also grown strong enough now that tough enemies even feel like I have a fighting chance.

The Valiant Gargoyles so far are the worst boss(es) in Elden Ring. I don't mind a challenge and of course there are plenty of challenging bosses in Elden Ring, but these two were such a doozy.

Still, it took me under 10 tries to beat them, which is less than the times it took me to beat the Red Wolf of Radagon in the Ancestral Forest or the Crucible Knights in the Siofra Aqueduct, who aren't even bosses. Go figure.

20 hours in and having a lot of fun. Being a series veteran has not made it any easier, though

Biggest pro: it's pretty much Dark Souls 4

Biggest con: it's pretty much Dark Souls 4

Down goes Radahn! Down goes Radahn! Down goes Radahn!

You know a game has got its hooks in you when after dying over and over again you still boot up and play it again. And again. And again. And finally, you overcome.

Phew.

So I got captured by this thing on wheels in the academy, which then had me end up in a Volcano, which in the end was a boss which was two of the things on wheels, which kicked my ass multiple times, before I decided "you know what? We're going with a spear." So get a spear, use shield with barricade shield, distract enemies with skeletons, run up to the rocks to jump on top, and once the enemies come over, I block with my shield while hitting them with the spear. I had to use a couple of energy refills, but I beat them in one try with this method.

This is one of the few games that keeps on kicking my ass, but I just go back and try again. I love it that much.

Non perfezionato, molto sbilanciato e ogni build finisce per essere giocata nello stesso modo nonostante la grande mappa di gioco.
