This game is really good considering the fact that it's an EA game.

Story is good, mostly loyal to the lore.

Gameplay is so enjoyable if we're talking about saber fights. Dİfferent types of enemies, boss fights.. all are really detailed and fun to play.

But you need to play through up to 8-10 hours to get all the updates required to discover the semi-open world maps. Double jump, wall walking, climbing etc. That cuts the flow because some planets are not that interesting enough to go back and discover over again and again.

Characters are cool. A fallen jedi, a young jedi, a witch, and our one and only seed crazy pilot Greez Dritus, anndd our cute little BD-1. All are balanced and have nice backstories.

Graphics are awesome. But game is badly optimized. Sudden fps drops all over the game. But that may not be a problem if you have very strong GPU like 2070S or like 5700XT. Open V-Sync, set shadows to medium because it's really a fps killer, everything else is on Epic. These are helped me a lot.

So overall, it was an enjoyable 20-22 hours if you are into Star Wars.

I'm glad I'm getting into it a year late since I hear the release was pretty buggy - no issues so far and I'm enjoying what I've played so far. The opening scene reminds me a bit of how the new Tomb Raider plays, but I get the sense this one will have a bit more combat and "levels" than Tomb Raider.

Got this for my birthday (around June) but didn't plan on playing it in the foreseeable future (backlog yo) so I lent it to a friend. Then it came to Game Pass and supposedly plays quite well on the Series X and Ghost of Tsushima is getting a little repetitive (hitting every question mark will tire anyone out - I accept full responsibility) so I decided to download it and give it a whirl.

It's a lot of fun so far now that I turned the difficulty down. I'm not a huge fan of Souls games so the combat feels unfair at times. I died a stupid amount of times to the first real boss because I forgot about my force powers and couldn't seem to time my rolls/pivots. I'll get better as I learn from my mistakes but that was damn frustrating.

Anyway, when I finish Ghost of Tsushima I'll likely put the majority of my time into this one until Cyberpunk 2077 comes out.*

Good Things:

  • Production quality. Amazing art direction, graphics, cinematics, sound, etc.
  • Consistently fun combat.
  • Combining soulsborne with some metroidvania and modern 3d platforming (uncharted / tomb raider) works pretty well.

Meh Things:

  • Never achieves the depth that either the soulsborne or metroidvania genres are known for.

  • The collectibles are totally meaningless to the gameplay, huge missed opportunity here to add some depth.

Loving it already, really hard to stop playing. So far feels like a Star Wars movie played as a ”God of Tomb Souls” 🙂

Gotten to the point where I now really appreciate the jankiness of the experience. It can still be frustrating at times but this low stakes exploration with no story beats to hit is probably a better experience than the first run.

Might do a new game + since I'm enjoying revisiting all these maps right now! Anyone else revisiting?

Ok, so I can be killed by a slug headbutting me, and there are unblockable attacks that take half my health, but I can fall 300 feet with no falling damage?

Not entirely sure why everyone is losing it over this game. I'm about 3-4 hours in. Doing lots of side stuff and trying to find all the secrets. Mostly because the game seems so shallow it wouldn't reach my ankles otherwise. This game features a single button combat system. It is an action 3d platformer/puzzler. Very light on the action, …

Mostly because the game seems so shallow it wouldn't reach my ankles otherwise. This game features a single button combat system. It is an action 3d platformer/puzzler. Very light on the action, very heavy on the platformer/puzzler. It's like Star Wars Ratchet and Clank if Ratchet only had his big wrench. Not sure, I understand why everyone is so excited. Also the main character has a delivery that is tepid at best. So story can't be reason people are coming to this, so.... I'll keep playing when I get around to it, but I wasn't impressed.... It's not a microtransaction filled third person shooter, but that isn't the only other option.

Finally finished this. Took a break because of the holiday weekend (working retail is hell).

This game just gives me even more faith in Respawn. This shows they can take a franchise that isn't their own and still do it justice. The game feels like if Uncharted and a Souls-game had a weird George Lucas baby. It's cinematic when it …

Can't wait for the (hopefully) inevitable sequel.

I recently finished this game and had alot more fun with it than I thought I would. I have NO experience with the Star Wars universe outside of the very many spoilers that have floated about ever since I was computer literate so the environments and settings were really neat and interesting going in blind. I REALLY liked the combat at max difficulty because everything, including you, dies in basically one hit. Which makes sense, its lasers and lightsabers... everything should be dying in one hit. Regardless of difficulty, combat is fast and simple to grasp as opposed to say.. Sekiro's rock paper scissors combat with a parry system so incredibly strict and requiring near perfect memorization of enemy patterns to properly parry. The unfortunate part is the very obvious jank the game suffers from as I'm sure many are aware of. Had this game had more time in development it would have certainly come out significantly better than it already did, which is a shame. Anyway, really fun, plenty of collectibles that are purely cosmetic, and quite short too though this is all strictly from a non star wars fan.

Okay, I'm officially sunken into this game. When adding more lore into an already lore-rich universe, it's super easy to trip and fall on your face, but Respawn KILLS it as always. I knew it was good to have faith in them.

I enjoyed this game, but the pacing was off. Every level had to be repeated twice (once in, once out), and I felt it was a bit too much tomb-running for me - I wanted more star wars! Most of this game's levels would be better placed in an Indiana Jones game.

However, the ending made up for a lot. The voice acting is incredible - maybe the best I've ever seen in a game. Ever character was incredibly well done. It did add a lot, once you got into the game a bit.

In the end though, I found the game a fairly linear tomb-raider game with star wars trappings. Somehow ... I wanted more from a great star wars game. It's the best star wars game since SWTOR MMORPG, which was a long time ago. But, I want more. Less Tomb Raider - more space opera!
