The game takes place in a rural town located on the frontier of a small kingdom. In the depths of the dense woodlands that extend over this land, it is said that there exists a “Golden Forest” where the trees produce gold. Those classes are Hunter, Necromancer, Shielder, Maid, Gunner, Wizard, Destroyer, and Bishop. Less

People warned me this was repetitive and grindy. I thought “I like repetitive and grindy.” Apparently not this much. Lapis x Labyrinth has its enjoyable moments, but it’s simultaneously too limited (gameplay) and too bloated (weapon and item systems) to be a great game.

It's so close to greatness, but is held back by its amateurish level design, poorly implemented combat mechanics, poorly thought out/superfluous upgrade systems, frustratingly "close to being useful" features such as the item and monster compendium, and the sporadically clunky controls (the game-feel is actually quite smooth and the combat feels great, but once you start going for no hit runs, you'll begin to realize that certain important input combinations don't read consistently or require unnecessarily awkward timing).

One last annoyance. Out of the eight available classes, the Shielder is in a league of its own. The other classes simply exist to serve as glorified projectiles for your Shielder(s).

Despite all of my frustrations with this game, I still sunk 40+ hours into it (including postgame).

The only rating on Grouvee is for three stars. Anyone have any insights on Lapis x Labyrinth, is this a worthwhile game to check out?
