A rare sequel that's better than the OG

In this very rare case, the sequel is actually better than the original. They ironed out some of the awkward mechanics of the first game and generally smoothed things out. They added new courses, and generally made the game better and more fun to play.

It’s hard to explain why this game is as good at it is. Something about it is just charming in a way that only super monkey ball could pull off. The story mode alone is great. It starts off easy and relaxing and works it’s way up to unfair and frustrating, but no matter what level you are on there is nothing more satisfying than crossing the finish line. The party games add some extra replayability and are great to play with friends, and would even be great as their own game. The only complaint that I have is that you need to unlock half of the party games. The story mode is good enough on its own and doesn’t need an incentive to play it, and they are pretty difficult to unlock if you want to play them with friends right away.
