Just finished Timespinner last night which was shockingly unremarkable given its reputation. It’s also far too much of an Igavania clone and suffers from that comparison very negatively, in my opinion.

Beat it today. Fun gameplay that does a good job at capturing the feel of IGAvania games but way, WAY too much SJW pandering with its LBGTQ agenda that has no real place in the game's story. It felt completely forced and was awkwardly introduced.

As you progress through the game, you'll be asked by various npc's to do simple fetch quests, defeat X amount of monsters, or some other menial task. Upon completion, you're rewarded with thanks, an item or money, and followed by being blindsided with a story about how said npc is gay, bi, or trans, and/or who they want to hook up with, complete with the main character giving them positive reinforcement towards their bravery for admitting as such. Further quests reveal more, leading up to a point where you basically learn that not a single friendly NPC in the game is heterosexual. Amusingly, the only character that is clearly heterosexual in the game ends up being
I understand that they were trying to be progressive but it doesn't come across authentic in the slightest. It reaches a point where meeting any new NPC becomes a parody of itself in regards to their sexual orientation. Despite that, the game is a nice Metroidvania romp that doesn't do anything you haven't seen before if you've played the GBA/DS Castlevania titles.
Skip the story, stay for the gameplay.

Timespinner was delightful, I'm so glad that I had the chance to play it. Castlevania but aggressively queer is exactly what I needed in my life.

Symphony of the Night clone with Time Travel mechanic? As good as it looks or cheap gimic?
