A super solid block of 80's action cheese
Huntdown is a 2D run 'n' gun that draws heavy inspiration from the larger-than-life action movies of the 80s. There's over-the-top villains, corny one liners and lots of blood and explosions.

This might sound like a typical nostalgia-bait indie game on paper but believe me, Huntdown is special. First of all, the game has absolutely killer 2D sprite graphics. The amount of detail put into the spritework is insane, and the cyberpunk style of the game is realised very, very well. There's many impressive scenes in the game. On top of that, the gameplay itself is really fun. At its core, the game is pretty simple and easy to grasp right from the start. Basically you just run, jump, shoot, duck, throw grenades and occasionally slide or dodge. However, there's a lot of different weapons and enemies to keep the game fresh during the game's runtime of 5 hours. The game is divided to really short action-packed levels with a unique boss at the end of each one. Thus, the game offers surprising amount of boss variety. Oh, and the game of course has a pumping synthwave soundtrack enhancing the action.
Honestly, there's not much to fault with Huntdown. Maybe there is some X factor or cool unique mechanic missing in the simple gameplay that drags this down from five stars to four but in any case, Huntdown is good. Really good.
Also, the game has a co-op mode that I think could be a great time but I couldn't test that for now.
