Article: Bloodthief - Freakishly Fast Fantasy by Wesley LeBlanc
Bedard loves fantasy, with Bloodthief’s world born out of enjoying stories like A Game of Thrones, Between Two Fires, Sanderson’s The Stormlight Archive, and more. I lit up when he mentioned Stormlight Archive – I figured he must love Sanderson’s Mistborn series after 30 minutes with Bloodthief. But alas, it’s pure coincidence as Bedard hasn’t yet read the books. I tell him he’s already made the best Mistborn game yet.
Bloodthief looks like Quake, and it features the blisteringly fast pace the shooter is known for, too. That’s by design – Bedard says it’s hard for it not to when using TrenchBroom, a popular Quake level editor. But after playing through Quake more recently than he cares to admit, he was blown away by how it held up, how its levels work, and more. “There is a very ‘what you see is what you get’ element to Quake that I’d never experienced in a game before,” he says. “I want people to feel the same with Bloodthief.”
