One of the best traditional turn based JRPG, I have played. The story, characters, music and most noticeably the world is simply unmatched. What makes this series so special? Well, the quality of its writing and also the sheer depth and volume of it. For example, each town NPC is handcrafted and their dialogues change as the story goes on, which makes the world feel alive. Many of them have their own story arcs or running gags that will make you want to talk to them for what they will say instead of purely for completionist purposes. Now, if they bother to give this much attention to random NPCs, you can expect an unprecedented level of detail for the main cast and story that puts even visual novels to shame.
I strongly suggest playing through the first game on the series before this, otherwise you will be kind of lost in the story.
Just completed this masterpiece. The game begins exactly were the first game left off. The game develops the characters that i loved from the first game even further. The game also introduced some new characters such as Kevin who was also a great character and a welcome edition to the party. I also enjoyed learning new arts and getting new S crafts. The series is slowly becoming one of my favourites and look forward to playing trails in the sky the 3rd, the crossbell arc and the cold steel series.
Ok, the first game was awesome but this... I have no words to describe its awesomeness. The first play-through lasted for me approximately 95 hours with all the side quests done and not even once I thought that the game was boring. A very nice world, great and funny characters, awesome battles and epic music. All the necessary elements that you need to have an epic (J)RPG. And this one has all of them. Anyone who is still hesitating whether to play this game or not I say do not think any longer, play this game and you will not regret it at all.
What can I say? If you are one of the people who enjoyed the first installment of Trails in the sky, let me tell you that this game is the same but on steroids: better story, better character design, better battles and cherry on top it has cutscenes! Who said that sequels are not as good as first parts?

Trails never disappoint in the stories that they tell. This game compared to FC was so much better because this was the execution of everything that FC set up, and it was beautifully done. The only thing that falls off with the story is some chapters felt like they were in there to help I guess pad out the game a bit. The characters were all fantastic (Kevin is now of my favorite Trails characters ever). The combat is about the same as it was in the first game, but this game introduced the chain attacks (which are like the link attacks that later games established). The music was fantastic all the way through, and that is always good for a JRPG. In the end, I came in expecting grander, and I came out with the fulfillment of the joy that this series brings me so much.
Assolutamente consigliato Voto: 10/10
through the prologue and into the first chapter. not sure i've ever played an rpg that's a direct sequel that takes place immediately after the events of the previous game and lets you import your save. so here are a couple of things that i wondered about and found very funny:
a character tells you 'oh yeah, your old magic? all those spells and skills you gathered? you can still use em if you want. but there's a new way of doing magic now. it's not backwards compatible. and honestly, even the weakest spell in this new system makes your old magic look like a joke.' and your character answers for you and says 'oh yeah throw that shit in the trash.' what's especially good is that they foreshadowed that they were making a new magic system at the end of the old game and they point to a powerful foe you faced and said 'remember this guy? he was using the new magic and that's why he was so hard.' i appreciate this so much because 1. it's funny. 2. it's totally earned. and 3. it diegetically answers a video game conundrum of 'why don't you have your old …

right before they put you back on the streets, they say 'wow... something crazy just happened. right after you beat the last boss of the last game, all the monsters got way way stronger. really weird, right? that's never happened before. you should investigate why that happened.' again, man, i love the way that's handled. it's funny and it lets you go through a normal difficulty curve and get new equipment all over again (the good stuff) while integrating it into the events of the story.
Finished the game. Defeated the last two bosses Loewe & Weissmann.

I'm so excited to finally be playing this. I played FC back in 2012 and at that point had no idea if the translation for the next two would ever happen. When I finally found out it happened I was overjoyed but for some reason or another had never been able to acquire and play it until now. I'm 2 hours in and it already feels like a comfy place I used to visit and feels great.
So, I loved the first game and waited a long time for this one. And sadly I can no longer really stomach the battles, everything is so slow! And I don't mean turn-based, I mean it just takes a long time to get through a single battle.
It's possible I was in the wrong mood for this kind of game when I tried it, so it remains on my backlog.
