Pokemon Hack'n'Slash? Yes, please.

Pros:
-- A good way to scratch that hack'n'slash itch, without being too deep
-- A good way to scratch that Pokemon itch, without dealing with RPG mechanics
-- Good to pick up and play when you don't have time to dig too far into something

Cons:
-- Not for those looking for a traditional Pokemon experience
-- Even on many, many replays, the randomness may not allow you to find the Pokemon you are looking for (appropriate though, in a way)
-- A little too shallow for the grind to not get old during long playsessions

Without actually reading my review again, I think I mentioned something about not being sure if I would go back and keep collecting more Pokemon. I still kind of am, but I am still unsure if I want to.

I went through the first stage another 15 times last night just trying to catch the Togepi I needed to finished the collection for that stage. Each time through was only a few minutes, but 15 times adds up. For one Pokemon.

I started getting frustrated and almost gave it up, but then I finally saw another one. Wasn't able to catch it, but just seeing it activated that "almost had it" feeling and I had to keep trying. Then I did see it again several plays later and I got it. And it felt great.

Then I stopped and compared this to the feeling of the original Red I played and I realized it's actually pretty similar. It's not like I went and caught each of the 151 the first time I saw each of them. Sometimes it took hunting. It took grinding. It took being annoyed because you accidentally knocked it out or it ran away. But eventually you …

It took being annoyed because you accidentally knocked it out or it ran away. But eventually you get it, and it's amazing. Maybe I will actually stick with this in the background a little more than I thought. But that was also back when I had more time to put into a fewer amount of games I had access to.

Also, looking at some FAQs, some of the rare ones sound really annoying to find and catch. Again, like Red, but I don't know if I have that in me. And if I'm not going to plan on getting them all, why get any more? We'll see what I feel as time goes on, I suppose.
