I was kinda nostalgic about 3 games: Smite, Smash Bros, Battlerite. This game combined the good parts from all of them, while removing what I didn't like:

  • Smash Bros: This game can be summed up as "smash in 3d". All the basic mechanics are there, but with the third person camera and 1 more dimension to move in :)
  • Smite: I liked the setting. Characters there are gods and heroes from real life lore. Their skills reflect their personality and legends.
  • Battlerite: No mana, no farming creeps, no gold and shops, only cooldown management and dodging/bluffing skills decide which one of you win. Also: clearly displayed windup animations, so you can react, hitboxes of AOE skills, so you know when and where to dodge.

Bonus points to this game for supporting gamepad. I'm only 30, but my (overworked) wrists and back already prefer the comfort of a couch + gamepad vs mouse + kb.
