The Faces of Evil differ from most conventional Zelda games as it is a platformer with a side-scrolling view, similar to The Adventure of Link. Stages are accessed from a world map, with more becoming available as Link clears an area or defeats a boss. The game have been subject to much criticism and Nintendo does not recognize it as part of the series. Read less

While beating my face against the wall looking online trying to find a way to beat Militron, I learned someone made a “remastered” version of the CD-i Zeldas. So I’ll suppose I’ll suffer through Faces of Evil as it is and I’ll see how the remastered Wand of Gamelon stacks up.

this is another game I can't give a proper review of since it's not truly the original product but i played the remake of this and wand of gamelon recently and they're like a solid 3/5, like 6/10. decent games but they're short and full of weird frustrating moments since you take damage so fast but every screen is so …

this is another game I can't give a proper review of since it's not truly the original product but i played the remake of this and wand of gamelon recently and they're like a solid 3/5, like 6/10. decent games but they're short and full of weird frustrating moments since you take damage so fast but every screen is so short that it doesn't matter all that much. i think the way progression is handled is neat and there are quite a few ideas this game has that the zelda series either discovered later or never really touched upon. anyway FUCK the game description saying this is "all-time worst" cause there are definitely games shittier and animation magic tried their best to make a game for a CD player and the cutscenes are some of the best damn things in the whole world

Legend of Zelda Link the Faces of Evil, made by Animation Magic for the Cdi, is well… a video game.. If you can call it that. The game was disliked by many fans of the Legend of Zelda series, and one of the worst video games of all time. Yes, it truly is that bad. The story behind it was that Nintendo wanted to make a new game console and went to Animation Magic to help make it and even gave them the rights to make a Zelda game. Animation Magic also was responsible for games like Hotel Mario and Zelda the Wand of Gamelon, which was popular for people called Youtube Poopers for a while because of how terribly bad the game was. Enough backstory, let us get into the review… oh boy. The game starts off with an almost laughable animated cutscene, which it tells the story of how Ganon, The villain, and his minions seizing the land of Koridai and that Link, the hero, is the only one to save it. When the cutscene ends Link gives you a tutorial on how to play the game, but when the tutorial ends you’ll be spending most of the game grinding/killing enemy for Rupees, currency in the game. You’ll also wonder where you’re supposed to go because the game doesn't even tell you where to go.The only reason you would want to play the game is because of the laughable cutscenes, the rest is just a big pile of garbage. The story is vague and makes no sense at all, for example one part of the game the genie guy that looks like an old Aladdin says this,”At last, you have the vision to find my house,” which makes no sense at all, so what I can gather is that other than my goal to defeat Ganon is to be able to see some genie's house? The characters are weird and have a no purpose but to give you items if you do random quest for them or to stand in your way. The game speed is abysmal, like when Link walks he walks slow but when he jumps he moves faster than when he walks, and the worst part is that the game has platforming which makes jumps harder to land. The controls are too sensitive, for example he jumps at any moment when you don’t want him to and he throws more bombs when you just want him to throw one .The final problem with the game is that, enemies spawn constantly and combination with the controls you’re more likely to get killed by the enemies. Not only is this game bad it almost butchered one of the best game series of all time, I’d only recommend it for the masochists.
