Audica is a VR Rhythm Shooter from Harmonix, the makers of Rock Band and Dance Central. Armed with a pair of rhythm blasters, you shoot and smash targets to the beat of a soundtrack that features songs from some of the world’s most popular artists. The better your timing and accuracy, the better your score. The better your score, the higher your place on Audica’s Leaderboards.

Good VR Rythm game
This review is for the PlayStation 4 version

Having platiniumed Beat Saber on PS4 I wanted to move on to another VR rythm game, Audica was the most logical choice.

I won't say it's as good as BS, the game concept is not as fun, but the tracklist and the interface are great AND the mapping is quite well done. If you're hesitating don't and go for it.

OSU with guns

I know it's a matter of taste, but I liked most of the tracks in this game. Combined with great target mappings, this was one of the most enjoyable experiences in VR, where you just get in the flow and forget all of your worries and feel in control.

But I'm generally into rhythm games, so consider this biased.

I also like rhythm games like Audiosurf or Dance Central, where you move your whole body and wildly flail your hands in something resembling a dance, but Audica and Pistol Whip is it's own subgenre, where you focus, shoot to the beat and feel like a badass.

I was a little hesitant to get this since I figured it was sort of a Beat Saber knockoff, but I couldn't resist another rhythm VR game and I'm so glad I did! It feels super fresh and exciting compared to Beat Saber, and if anything, the melee hits in this game are even more satisfying. And the guns compared to sabers feel really different and the focus on the timing of your hits is higher here. I'm having a ton of fun trying to get full clears on the basic difficulty.
