I had started Oddmar one before, on my android device. I made it approximately 4 levels in and then gave up on it. I had a hard time with the jump controls being a swipe up and then I didn't give it time and I shut it down.
Flash forward and the game is on Apple Arcade and I now have an iPhone. Decided to give it another shot and I'm really glad I did.
The controls might have not been up to snuff my first time through but this time I was wondering why I was even complaining my first go around. The controls felt great and responsive. Sure, it probably would have felt even better with a controller, but it was still pretty amazing. Honestly impressed.
The animation of the game was top notch. Loved it. the cutscenes were spectacular and the voice narration was impeccable. The story might not have been crazy original, but who cares, it was fun and easy to follow and enjoyable even if it's predictable.

Needless to say I really enjoyed this game. I ended up doing everything in this game except the speedruns of the levels, which was tempting because I did enjoy this one that much. I can't wait to see what Mobgee puts out next and I will gladly be playing it.
I enjoyed the distinct art style and playful storytelling and gameplay of Oddmar. At first, I was impressed by the controls but ended up frustrated with them. I think the developers did the best they could to create intuitive and responsive controls on a touch screen. Honestly, I can't imagine a better way of approaching controls on an iPad but I still longed for a controller. I frequently had missteps where the controls wouldn't respond how I wanted them to or the game was calling for more movement finesse than the controls easily allowed.
With that caveat, I definitely recommend Oddmar if you enjoy platformers. I had a lot of fun playing through this relatively short game.
