OK so whoever voiced Dredd here did a fantastic job. I liked the one liners. I am not very well acquainted with the source material so I don't know if this game adapted it well or not but I will say that this certainly has a good story and the first level is just fantastic. But the later levels were just your standard fps fares. However I liked the mall level with the dancing zombies. Overall I enjoyed my time till the hospital level and then I lost interest and just uninstalled it!
Fora a game that is very much a mediocre shooter (at best, and i dont say it with straight face) this game is amusing and has it's moments. Between Dredd's one liners and arresting people who you dont kill in the heat of battle (or just arresting bystanders who do nothing and you can just make up crime charges) it has some decent gore, this almost feels like a duke nukem game it's not as absurd as serious sam but it's often just as amusing!
the machina style cutscenes are pretty decent overall and some of the maps are actually intersting looking (yet are very simple standard fps fare) this game ties in and includes tastefully a lot of stuff in the judge dredd universe and has a nice feel to it. the multiplayer is totally junk, the weapons suffice, the lawpistol with its modes is cool but nothing spectacular. the weapons easily beat gunman chronicles (which really was kinda stealing the idea and did it poorly) and the dystopian world beats ReVOLUTION the new breed the fact the gameplay is semi decent, stuff around you and happening is halfway interesting AND the dredd universe is well-presented and the weapons …

a few things in this game reek of this weird and awful y2k vibe (the UI is okay but it's defeinitely one of those facets) the multiplayer arcade mode is where this really becomes apparent. My first five minutes i kept trying to remember the awful videos i saw on youtube of a UT99 clone for gamecube, (the multi looks like that.) sure enough Judge Dredd was a gamecube game! My main gripe with the gameplay is the jumping. Some of the most awkward feeling jumps i've seen in an FPS since STALKER. Between the distance, the veolocity and timing your jump as well as what you visually see and what actually occurs all seems a bit ruddy. but jumping is not a major element of this game. unfortunately iti is a bit too short all things considered which is a dealbreaker. This isn't a game you play because you are looking to play every FPS, or have gamecube nostalgia... it's a game you play because you like Judge Dredd and somewhat like FPS. For a video game adaptation this gets merit.
a game like this wasn't good to begin with it's ability to age is somewhat irrelevant since it's not pushing things with engine graphics or much else. it's all about dredd, and the weird universe. still it's too short and needs more dredd.
it must be said that the dynamic of taking hostages/prisoners after wounding people a bit, maybe killing them in a continued gun battle VS getting more 'points' by taking prisoners is kinda fun and interesting about judge dredd. it adds a risk/reward dynamic (in a sense) that i've not experienced in an FPS before. (Kinda makes me wonder. TAKE NO PRISONERS!) Do I place shots careful in the room full of drug crazed maniacs and soften them up but try to take all alive getting hurt a bit myself in the process or do i just spray wildly and kill half of them, or better yet lobbing a grenade in there? heck if you've played FPS you know the only dynamics are health and ammo management (and with newer games that recharge health, it's only a matter of how fast you get damaged) so this mechanic is... original?
COULD IT BE? Maybe Judge Dredd isn't a bad game. and maybe he's not the asshole Gordon Freeman, Quakeguy, and Serious Sam and everyone else are and always will be? (Couldn't be!) Because, you might actually LIVE after picking a fight with judge dredd, but he'll sentence you for LIFE because that's justice. (According to him.) Yeah this game was rediculous but it was still fun. But geez, too short for sure.. What this is is a half presentation really, but i'ts still fun, still a proper game or remake would be nice, as this is a very interesting world and warrants something more legit.
