Batman 2D

A direct continuation to Arkham Origins, which was definitely not made for PC, but you can still play it there. The game doesn't add much to the lore and the 2.5D controls are not so polished, so mostly it's painful to play without the precise mechanics I was used to in other Arkham games.

I've made 4 or 5 attempts at this game, this time getting a couple hours in. Unfortunately I think it is time to call it quits. It has all the appearances of a decent Batman game but there's no real heart to it. I constantly feel like I'm just going through the motions.

For those looking for a bit more detail. The game looks and sounds nice enough, it's even got some well-drawn comic style scenes. Unfortunately it plays like someone just took the Arkham games and shoehorned them into 2D. While there is a bit of exploration it was more or less linear for my playtime (with a smidge of backtracking). Now I've only played 20-25% of the game judging by it's play time, so it may open up more later on.

The game just feels clunky and generic. The fights are slow and their attempt to make the Arkham style combat work in 2D lands mostly flat footed.

I've decided at the ripe old age of 35, with almost 200 games in my backlog, that I really just don't have time for games I'm not enjoying. Sorry Batman, this one's just not for me.
