Terinati's review of The Book of Unwritten Tales 2

This is one of the best games I've played in the King'sQuest-like genre. I was worried about starting on the second game in a series, but other than a few jokes and references to past adventures I'm pretty sure went over my head, the game did a good job of making sure I didn't feel lost in the story.

The dialogue was well-written, hilarious, and full of brilliant references to all manner of fantasy gaming and literature. Plenty of self-deprecating humor about this genre of adventure game as well. A couple of puzzles were tricky enough to make me feel clever without making me work too hard, at least one was a repetitive trial-and-error that I just consulted a walkthrough for. No game-breaking bugs or pathing errors that make one miss clues. Definitely worth one playthrough just for all the fun jokes.

Casual Gameplay, Great Satire
This review is for the Xbox One version

I wanted to give this one a try before it disappeared from Game Pass, and I wish I had started it sooner! I didn't want to spend more than a few hours on it knowing I wouldn't be able to finish the game, but the time I did spend was really enjoyable. I didn't play the first one, but this one seems to be a whole new adventure.

If you like puzzle games, you might enjoy this one. Game play is pretty simple -- you interact with characters and objects to solve problems and advance through the story. But that seems to be the great part of this game -- the story. I picked up on a ton of pop culture/fantasy references in the time I played, and I found the satire to be quite humorous. I may end up purchasing this one and picking it back up later! Seems to be a fun, casual game that you can get into when you want a good laugh.
