I've calmed the frenzied nobles and I don't want to throw out spoilers so I'm not going into details but I'm really put off by what's happened. If these were real people I'd be saying some pretty ugly words at them. I feel the end of the game is attainable so I want to keep going but they've made it …

Ended up playing this game the same way as I played other Pokémon games - grinded a lot early on and then rushed everything at the end. I think what mainly compelled me to finish it this yesterday was that I am spending so much time on it and I wanted to free myself from that. That didn't really work because I still want to play, and there's definitely stufff left for me to do. All of this playtime somehow makes it feel that another Pokémon game late this year would be too much for me.

A quick perhaps spoilery question for those who have beaten the game and completed the Pokedex- Can I get another Cyndaquil/Rowlett/Oshawott? I am under the impression that Gamefreak will eventually let us connect this game to Pokemon Home, and I want to know if these all can be used to help me complete my Home Pokedex. But if I'm stuck …

I am under the impression that Gamefreak will eventually let us connect this game to Pokemon Home, and I want to know if these all can be used to help me complete my Home Pokedex. But if I'm stuck with just the Hisuian final evolutions, that's cool too.

There's a 60 FPS mod for PL:A so I definitely gave that a whirl. I haven't been in such awe looking at a 30 FPS capped game run at 60 this smoothly since emulating Breath of the Wild and Persona 5 back in 2018. Bless Yuzu, bless Ryujinx, and bless emulation.

I got to a field of Yanmas. As I crouched and sneaked behind one - trying to get near enough for a heavy ball and catch it - I remembered how, as a I child, I would also slowly and quietly approach dragonflies in fields near our house and attempt to grab one by their tail. I haven't thought about …

As I crouched and sneaked behind one - trying to get near enough for a heavy ball and catch it - I remembered how, as a I child, I would also slowly and quietly approach dragonflies in fields near our house and attempt to grab one by their tail. I haven't thought about that in a long time. I was afraid all the Pokémon catching would get tiring pretty early but moments like this beg to differ.

Reached the post game and might call it here for now. Without spoiling specifics, the final task of the game seems really grindy and I'm just not sure if I'm feeling it right now. All in all I'm very proud of Game Freak for mixing it up with this one, and I definitely enjoyed my time even with all the jank and limitations. Hopefully Game Freak takes this as an opportunity to improve on this formula or maybe even experiment further. A backslide into standard Pokemon would be a huge lost opportunity.

I'm still in the final area because I got home last night, made dinner, ate it while playing for a bit, and then promptly fell asleep in a terrible position sitting on the couch (which is like impossible for me and speaks to my exhaustion) for nearly three hours.

But I did catch a shiny Bergmite as soon as I turned on the game, so that was cool. Also found an Alpha Gardevoir to swap out with my normie one, so my team is now all Big Bois and Gorls except for my starter.

Drifloon is still my only totally-complete Dex page. After the second or third area, I decided to focus less on any of that until after I finish the story because then I'll have access to everything. There are a few quests still sitting in my log that I'm leaving until later for this reason as well.

While I'm enjoying the game itself and it's a very welcome change to the standard formula, the Pokedex quests were not a good idea. Stopping everything into a screeching halt so I go into a grindfest so I can go into the next area hurts it terribly.

I only played a bit earlier today in favor of sinking some time into FFX, but in the bit of time that I did play:

a shiny Drifloon (only totally-completed Dex page that I have) popped, so I fought off two nearby normal ones so they wouldn't mess up my catchin', and as soon as the battle ended, it transitioned …

I have 8 hours in so far and its not holding up to expectations, I love the concept and this is really well pulled off but it has an insane lack of trainer battles for a pokemon game, I would love to see a game like this as an actual game with gyms and not just a pokemon catching simulator. However I did catch a shiny shinx and shiny luxray is one of the coolest looking. (included in snapshot from game) shiny luxio

Around an hour and a half in, having fun so far. It's not a "I'm going to play the whole day" game, but it's nice for playing a bit now and then! And my Cyndaquil is cute. And breathes fire. Cute fire.

Also, I have zero issues with the graphics. They're what they need to be and nothing more and that's a-ok.

I guess it's about time I actually post an update for this, huh?

I'm having an absolute blast with this game. I love exploring the terrain, filling out the research points for the Pokedex, and helping the townsfolk of Jubilife get to know Pokémon better.

Sure, there are some problems--the satchel being the biggest one in a game that's so focused on allowing you to take your time with exploration and gathering. The amount of money that you need to spend to expand the pockets is ridiculous. It's a constant bag-management deal where you're either justifying discarding your items or traveling back to a camp to dump stockpiles of items. There aren't separate pockets for different types of items, so berries alone (which I honestly don't bother with most of the time) take up like half of the bag. It's probably the biggest annoyance for me in the game.

I'm still only in the second map "area" as of now, even with probably 30 hours on the game, but I'm basically done with it. I definitely did not enjoy the area itself much.
