Deep within the Shropshire countryside, the village of Yaughton stands empty. Toys lie forgotten in the playground, the wind blows quarantine leaflets around the silent churchyard. Down on Appleton’s farm, crops rustle untended. The birds lie where they have fallen. Strange voices haunt the radio waves as uncollected washing hangs listlessly on the line. A walking simulator through an idyllic English village, only everyone is gone. You come across memories of people and piece together what brought the rapture. Great voice acting with an interesting plot, even if I didn't fully understand it. Excellent job putting together the village and country side and it was joy to walk around it with the epic music. …

SPOILER ABOUT THE MEANING OF THE CODE ON THE RADIO

In the wake of a human being’s death, what survives is a set of afterglows, some brighter and some dimmer, in the collective brains of those dearest to them. There is, in those who remain, a collective corona that still glows.

I am all about story-driven games, but my main problem with this game is that I got lost all the time. I can't navigate myself easily in first person simulator mode, and I often found myself getting lost in the area. That led to frustration and a disconnection with the story (in which you have to understand all the different characters just by their voice, many times I got lost there too). In the end, I couldn't find my way back to where I was supposed to go, things got really annoying wondering around, having nothing to do or listen to, in the slow slow pace that has been described... So I didn't finish it, and that means that this game didn't amaze me enough to do so. I want to give it another try though because I can see the huge story potential in there, it's the mechanics that threw me off.

Apparently tonight is not my night. First I lost progress in Wind Waker and now this happens in Everybody's Gone to the Rapture:

I think that's me for the night. I'll pick up somewhere another time.
