I didnt expect much from this but I was hoping to enjoy it. The game is okay but its just not a lot of fun. It's too bad because Godzilla (and the other monsters all the art really) looks really quite good. There are combat move cut scenes which while they look great, they feel spammy and overused.
The highlight of the game is the detailed hand drawn pixel art.
The game consists of two parts. The first part is... Simulation/tactical and consisted of you wandering Godzilla around the city. Cities are usually split up in 6-8 sectors and the sectors will change when you approach an edge. Each sector you basically want to avoid tanks/missiles and collect the power ups. The power ups let you do things in battle like heal yourself back to full health or increase your attack rating meter. There are also health recharge sites you can visit in simulation mode. Your ultimate goal however is to find and locate the enemy monster on the map which takes you to battle mode. Battle mode is basically a 2d Fighting minigame of sorts that is a bit hard to describe. as you get closer to the enemy …

Battle mode is basically a 2d Fighting minigame of sorts that is a bit hard to describe. as you get closer to the enemy monster you risk getting hit as their combat meter rises, but backpedal from the monster and their combat meter lowers (as does yours) what youre trying to do here is get the perfect timing between the two meters to land a punch on the enemy monster, back up and the follow up with a special attack to actually hurt them. It's really haphazard and not much fun.
"Super Godzilla. Super Godzilla? Super Godzilla!"
The game isnt long, its fairly easy. You just have to do the above six times and you win. The last few missions have some tougher boss fights but the maps have some kinda gimmick to turn odds in your favor.

Very strange game. It's pseudo simulation and pseudo fighting game... Doesnt really do either of them very well. Fortunately its short, easy and the roar of Godzilla kept me at it until it was time to go dip back in the Pacfic for some much needed rest and relaxation...
...Unti next time Tokyo!
I do not like this game. At first I was excited that it would be like the helicopter Strike series only controlling Godzilla, but it is not. The graphics, UI and gameplay are so basic that it seems more like a NES game, or earlier. Moving around is boring and tedious. Nothing exciting or interesting happens. I spent so much time wandering around trying to figure out how to properly control, navigate, and what the goal actually was, that I ran out of time fighting the boss. The simplistic side view boss battle was difficult to predict and burdened with unnecessary cutscene attacks. By the time I more or less figured out the appropriate strategy the time was up. Seems to be a cheaply made game with poorly thought out gameplay and I am not inclined to play it.
