Main game

For a mobile game with only two controls (one for either side of the phone) this game is pretty remarkable. I came into this not expecting too much, both from this being a mobile game and from seeing a few mixed reviews beforehand. For a simple side-scroller with such limited controls the majority of the time it doesn’t feel constrained at all. The first dozen or so levels are a great introduction to the world and get you used to the mechanics and the style of play - are very easy but don't feel too easy as you're just getting used to the interaction with the world. I’d say the middle portion of the game mixes together some decently difficult levels that took a few attempts to get through with some levels that are so easy I barely had to look at the screen. A better balance could definitely have been found, especially as some levels took many attempts and a lot of focus whereas others were over very quickly with little to no thought involved. Towards the end of the game though the puzzles get tougher and more intricate, sometimes taking a few attempts to realise what I was …

A better balance could definitely have been found, especially as some levels took many attempts and a lot of focus whereas others were over very quickly with little to no thought involved. Towards the end of the game though the puzzles get tougher and more intricate, sometimes taking a few attempts to realise what I was being expected to do, this is mixed with the requirement for precise movements. While this is in essence a game as simple and ‘easy’ as flappy bird, it mixes the surprising frustration and precision of that game with much more interesting levels and puzzles. The best thing about this game has to be the design though. Dark and mysterious, but not too dark for a mobile platform. For a mobile game this is great, as the vast majority of levels take a very short time to complete, require the expected amount of mental focus expected from a brief stint on your phone but mix all that with beautiful design and satisfy on completion. Definitely worth the current low price of £0.79
