There’s so much empty space, which makes the game feels poorly paced and depressing. The lore that you find is so mind-numbing and uninteresting. And the story just doesn’t pull any emotional strings.
The best part of the game are some of the boss fights. They’re all unique, and the combat mechanics complement it well. There is occasionaly good environmental puzzles and some areas are fun to explore.
But, it just doesn’t have a real original feeling to it. It lives in the shadow of its much superior influences. I think tighter level design, story iteration, and much better lore writing would go a long way. And lots of play testing, because it only occasionally felt really ~fun~.
