CATE WEST THE VANISHING FILES REVIEW:(NDS)
This review is for the Nintendo DS version

The vanishing files by Cate West is a 2008 puzzle game.Gamenauts, the producer of the game, and Destineer, the distributor, have done a great job.Tell me the story of the game.A man named Cate's father died years ago, and years later he starts working with the police to find his father's killer. The gameplay is as follows.in this game, which consists of 16 chapters and 75 chapters, you are trying to solve puzzles and pass the chapter. The music of the game is beautiful. If you are not too obsessed with graphics and you like retro games, this game is for you.My rating for the game: 10/10 (y) Good games to everyone 🙂

SuperEffective's review of Cate West: The Vanishing Files

It was a mistake to play a game that I knew would be bad, but I did anyways! If you are familiar with the I Spy children's book series, this is what this game is. There are 15 chapters total where you play as Cate, an author who gets involved with the police to solve a series of crime being committed by mysterious person "M." You perform the same set of actions in every single chapter as clues will come together as to why "M" is committing endless crimes.

Story: Cate has a past where her father was murdered for reasons unknown. She is an author where she meets police officer Ben at her failed book signing (organized by her friend Wesley). You will perform an I Spy session with a photograph Ben has and for some reason, it prompts him to invite you to work with him and Elliott to solve crime. Once the pieces start coming together and you discover who M is (and why he was committing crimes), it leads up to a conclusion with a sequel to follow (Cate West: The Velvet Keys).

The story could have been better, but a) it is …

It was a mistake to play a game that I knew would be bad, but I did anyways! If you are familiar with the I Spy children's book series, this is what this game is. There are 15 chapters total where you play as Cate, an author who gets involved with the police to solve a series of crime being committed by mysterious person "M." Story: Cate has a past where her father was murdered for reasons unknown.

The story could have been better, but a) it is a children's game, so it was most likely written intentionally as a simple format with repetitive lines for clearer understanding and b) it just has so many plot holes and weird scenarios that are unrealistic.

Gameplay: As mentioned, it is the I Spy series in a game format. You will find a list of items in selected locations, find parts of an object at selected locations, compare 2 versions of the same image for differences, find the suspect, and put objects back in selected location. You will repeat these same steps 15 times and depending on your memory, this could get harder or easier to do as it goes on. For some, this might be their style of game and for others, this will be very boring.

tl;dr: I would not bother with this game. I am sure there are more interesting (and bad) games you could spend a couple bucks on instead.
