Very Good For What It Is

I'm aware this isn't a groundbreaking game or a pioneer of any kind but I really liked it. I was debating a 4 or 5 but I remembered trying to play this on PS4, not easy. The Vita touch screen makes for a much better, and less frustrating experience.

Sparkle 2 (I haven't played Sparkle 1 yet) is a match 3 game where you shoot multicolored orbs at a chain of orbs reaching a tunnel. The orbs you fire out can match the color of the chain and clear some. If the chain goes down the tunnel then you've failed. Each level is a point of your quest to find 5 magical keys.

There are powerups, enchantments to make the levels easier and special orbs that clear a bunch of the chain. The chain is only so long, once you clear them all, you beat the level. This was free on PS+ last month.

I like to sample games, with everything I have on Steam, Playstation Plus, digital and physical games I have a lot to choose from, therefore not a lot gets completed. But I kept coming back to this one, for several reasons.

Pros:

  • Nice visuals

Pros:

  • Nice visuals
  • Excellent music
  • Lots of power ups
  • Easy but not too easy
  • Fun story aspects when you find a key
  • Fun game play especially with a touchscreen. Seems perfect for handhelds.

Cons:

  • Frustrating with a controller (might be better with a mouse)

This is one of those games that is really simple, and delivers exactly what it sets out to. You shoot marbles at a long string of marbles, trying to match up the colors and erase all the incoming marbles before they reach their goal. You slowly earn little upgrades to make harder levels later on a little more manageable. Again, very simple game, but it's a good one that I enjoy playing on the Vita from time to time as a little "don't want to think" time-waster.

Free on PS Plus this month, cross platform (play on PS3, PS4, and/or Vita). I'm having a lot of fun with this. Story is pretty loose, gameplay is simple but fun. Graphics are nice. What really makes for a great experience is the sound track. I played on my Vita and it sounded awesome. The music changes when you're getting close to a loss. There are powerups, enchantments and combos. For the price of free I'm enjoying it very much.

Was pretty fun. Good for someone like me who likes to have wrestling or football or a podcast on in the background—mesmerizing soundtrack, nice visuals, simple gameplay. No complaints. Relatively shallow but sometimes that’s what your looking for.
