Very Good For What It Is

I'm aware this isn't a groundbreaking game or a pioneer of any kind but I really liked it. I was debating a 4 or 5 but I remembered trying to play this on PS4, not easy. The Vita touch screen makes for a much better, and less frustrating experience.

I'm aware this isn't a groundbreaking game or a pioneer of any kind but I really liked it. I was debating a 4 or 5 but I remembered trying to play this on PS4, not easy. The Vita touch screen makes for a much better, and less frustrating experience.

Sparkle 2 (I haven't played Sparkle 1 yet) is a match 3 game where you shoot multicolored orbs at a chain of orbs reaching a tunnel. The orbs you fire out can match the color of the chain and clear some. If the chain goes down the tunnel then you've failed. Each level is a point of your quest to find 5 magical keys.

There are powerups, enchantments to make the levels easier and special orbs that clear a bunch of the chain. The chain is only so long, once you clear them all, you beat the level. This was free on PS+ last month.

I like to sample games, with everything I have on Steam, Playstation Plus, digital and physical games I have a lot to choose from, therefore not a lot gets completed. But I kept coming back to this one, for several reasons.

Pros:

  • Nice visuals
  • Excellent music
  • Lots of power ups
  • Easy but not too easy
  • Fun story aspects when you find a key
  • Fun game play especially with a touchscreen. Seems perfect for handhelds.

Cons:

  • Frustrating with a controller (might be better with a mouse)
