Main game

A free game on Steam that's described as a "mystical thriller visual novel inspired by David Lynch and Stephen King." I don't know much about Lynch but I didn't feel the King inspirations at all. Maybe it's because the main character is a writer and relies on drugs?
The story follows a man who lets a stray cat into his house one stormy night. This sparks the deterioration of his health, home, and relationships. The player is given choices periodically that have consequences and can result in one of several different outcomes. The game is short enough that replaying to explore different paths is pretty easy.
Unfortunately the game makes it very difficult to unlock every achievement due to the way journal entries work. While playing the game, you'll receive a notification when a new journal entry pops and if you don't notice you've unlocked a new one and don't look at it immediately, you'll miss the entry which leads to situations where you have no idea what entries you're missing and what you'll need to replay to unlock it. There are many players in the forums complaining about having 99% of the journal entries and no idea how to …

There are many players in the forums complaining about having 99% of the journal entries and no idea how to get the last one. I have 23 out of 24 achievements unlocked and unless the devs patch the game (which I doubt they will since this game has been out since 2023) to make it easier to find these journal entries, I won't ever get the final achievement.
There is both English and Japanese voice acting. I only played with the English voice actors. Selene's performances were fine but I found Hope's pretty horrible. There isn't too much dialogue in general though as you're mostly reading the thoughts of the main character.
Overall, if you can manage dealing with a game you may not ever be able to 100%, I think this is an easy spooky recommendation for those who enjoy weird, sexual haunts (if you purchase the adult patch separately).
DLC Review
The Steam page states it includes the artbook (which I don't understand because they have a separate listing for it), additional artwork, an alternative English voice actor for Selene (played by Miss Moonified), a modder pack, and a developer diary "coming this week!" (which is concerning since this pack released in 2023 so not sure if they ever actually included it or not).
This adds erotic content to the free base game. While the content is obviously horny, it does add a new layer of horror and it's hard to imagine the game without it after experiencing it. I think it checks both boxes for being hot and messed up while also being affordable and an easy way to support the developers.
The artbook is disappointing even considering its low price. It doesn't include everything shown in-game or any of the adult content and is included in the Supporter Pack so there's virtually no point to purchase it separately. The art direction is also really bizarre, part anime and part whatever you want to call this.
