Lex Mortis is an open-world horror game set on a fully explorable island. The game’s atmosphere is directly affected by the time of day. During the daytime you will study the island and it’s mysteries. But at night the enemies reveal themselves, and the worst nightmare becomes real!

Full of bugs, but with so much character

I wanted to give a small score to it: save does not work as expected, application crashes when quitting, some other crashes rendered the video black prompting for a restart, collision and falling out of map problems, bad english and, above all, some stages pitch black, almost impossible to navigate.

However, this game has so much character and mood that I was able to overlook all the frustration.

Day/night cycle is good, lighting is good (when you can see things), textures and objects are very detailed, does not matter for me if they are stock assets, music is moody and sets the stage for mistery (does not matter if hey are Creative Commons music), at least one scripted event is truly satisfying, the evolution of mood from walking simulator at day on an island to an horror game at night on confined spaces to syfy mood with stealth elements is very well done and not at all disconnecting and very surprising each time the switch happens and the game changes.

A good game that would require a little more effort to fix bugs and fix some gameplay issues to become a great game.
