Beautiful pixel graphics/music, interesting gameplay ideas, and hopeful story prospects.

    • The game is gorgeous no doubt, a lot of effort went into almost every nook and cranny of making this game and all of the layers, and characters in both day and night shadings and all the actions performed. The music while a bit generic fits most of the locations perfectly and provides some very pleasant listening while you play through. This game, if found on sale is worth it for the art and music alone.
    • There are a lot of neat ideas surrounding trying to mix both aerial gameplay and platforming, unfortunately, it often feels like the game punishes you for touching the ground for how it slow it feels when you do. The combat has some real neat ideas that I enjoyed throughout, however, the execution has trouble finding the right middle ground. I often either breezed through sections swarmed with enemies only find myself stumped at certain boss fights that were really just pattern based and not combat prowess or power.
    • Finally the overall story has a lot going for it, and if you take the time to gather all the lore you get a neat picture. A lot of the side characters have a lot going for them, and they even came up with some very reasonable motives for actions and character swapping in the party. That said there's a couple of key elements at the end of the game that left a bitter taste in my mouth.

I'm glad I played this game, but It'll be a looooong while before I pick it up again.

3.5 rounded up Cute little game, reminded me of the flash games I used to play online. Graphics were nice, game mechanics were easy enough to use, storyline was simple and cute

The platforming section at the end of the game is a special level of bad.

Given how pretty the art design is in Owlboy, I really wish it was a better game.

Surprisingly good game, specially the aesthetic and the overall atmosphere of it. A bit short, and tight controls but very enjoyable overall. The music is fantastic, and the characters are quirky and lovable. Loved it.

I suppose I need a Switch. Increasingly games that seem ideal for the PS Vita are released to everything but. I know, the Vita is a dead platform. Even so, games like Iconoclasts and Chasm are two games released (or soon to be released) in 2018 that perfectly suited the Vita. The Vita is my favourite platform for side-scrolling games …

I suppose I need a Switch. Increasingly games that seem ideal for the PS Vita are released to everything but. I know, the Vita is a dead platform. Even so, games like Iconoclasts and Chasm are two games released (or soon to be released) in 2018 that perfectly suited the Vita. The Vita is my favourite platform for side-scrolling games like these. For some reason they all feel better on a handheld. They feel at home there. So if games like OwlBoy are going to be Swtich, instead of Vita, releases I guess it's nearing time to buy me a new Nintendo.

Really enjoyed gorgeous game. For about a 10 hour game (unless you want all the collectibles), it starts out a little slow, but really picks up after about 30 minutes. The gameplay manages to stay fresh throughout the entire game. May do a full review later.
