Head On is an arcade game developed in 1979 by Sega. In this game, players control their cars through the maze where the goal is to collect the dots while avoiding collisions with the computer-controlled car that is also collecting dots. It was an early maze game revolved around collecting dots and is considered a precursor to Namco's 1980 hit Pac-Man.

Surprisingly Fun. Great Early Arcade Collect-the-Dots Game With a Driving Twist

Look: 9/10 Set the precedent for so much, and my favorite type of arcade graphics--reminds me more of early Atari graphics.

Sound: 9/10 Love it. Fun, simple, effective. Plus, like I've mentioned in multiple reviews, I'm a sucker for this era's sound effects.

Play: 9/10 I'm not a big arcade guy, nor a big maze game guy, nor a big driving game guy... like 2 of those are 2 of my least favorite genres... But this is done well. Sure, I only played for a bit, and I didn't get to try 2-player mode, but I may return for it. This is decidedly the best Arcade game I've attempted since Space Invaders, since I've mostly avoided arcade games. It's making me nervous in case I should've included more arcade games in my chronology project! But some day I can return to this era for that... for now, time to move on. Fun, collect-the-dots-on-a-maze-screen, while avoiding the other car. Fun, fast, exciting.

Feel: 9/10 Lol I had a blast with the crashes. And I like how you accelerate in it, rather than just a set speed. This is like what I wish Pac-Man was.

Attachment: 8/10 All that being said, this …

Attachment: 8/10 All that being said, this is definitely one of the early arcade games I will be revisiting when I do revisit arcade games.... but how often that'll really be is another question. I'm probly overrating this overall, particularly with how brief it is with only one maze screen, but all the clones, the bootleg additional mazes, and 2-player capability means it's certainly replayable. Plus, it was just so exciting to finally enjoy a driving game, let alone a collect-the-dots game, let alone an arcade game... heh
