Decent Cute Em Up With Great Power-Ups, But Tough To Get Em. And Tough All Around!

Preliminary: Ha at first I was like, wait I swear I've played this. Then I realized it's cuz I playtested it on the arcade machine. Looking good so far, cute Look and Sound, you can shoot away projectiles, you have health instead of instant death for everything. Hm. I'm 2 years ahead of this in the chronology project so hopefully that won't bog it down. Same with the slow movement, which I assume can be upgraded. We shall see! (Edit: I played the NA release of the arcade from 1987: Battle Chopper)

Day 2

Welp, as per usual with cute em ups this is so hardddd. Already abusing savestates on the first level. Pro-tip: don't be like me and avoid the crystals which I thought were obstacles--those are in fact currency. I like the idea of currency to buy power-ups, but I wish you automatically got currency by defeating enemies. Many of the hardest enemies gave nothing. I got through the first boss but sheesh.

Oh wait apparently that was just part 1 of Stage 1 lol. Okay now I finished Stage 1 and now I knew to grind for the crystals, which you do not get from killing enemies. …

Day 2

Welp, as per usual with cute em ups this is so hardddd. Already abusing savestates on the first level. Pro-tip: don't be like me and avoid the crystals which I thought were obstacles--those are in fact currency. Oh wait apparently that was just part 1 of Stage 1 lol. Okay now I finished Stage 1 and now I knew to grind for the crystals, which you do not get from killing enemies. And feel much more comfortable with staying alive ha. Excited to now buy my first power-up. They definitely make earning a power-up hard it better be worth it!

Ok finally yes the power-ups are very powerful! Honing missiles is the first one I got and then heals when I needed it from the purchased power-ups. It's still too difficult for me but I'm having fun!

When you don't have enough money for an upgrade :(:(:(

Omg ugh when you die you lose all your upgrades AND all your money?! Brutal. I'm on Stage 3 now, seems there are only 6 stages, but that might burn me out. I'll try for a bit after this death (I died on Stage 1 but that was before I understood the importance of the money, how to get it, etc.).

Sadly the game is just too hard. I got to Stage 4 and called it quits. I only got this far with a lot of savestates. I've noticed high difficulty is a thing with cute em ups, I assume it's to contrast the cute Look and whatnot.

Look: 7.5/10 It's cute and whatnot, nothing super impressive but always like the arcade cute em up Look

Sound: 7.5/10 Some good tunes, namely when you enter in your name for score, but nothing super special.

Play: 7/10 Too hard but I like the power-ups... once you can get them. And we have this on arcade machine so I'm sure I will get to know stage 1 very well over time haha.

Feel: 7/10 A game I wanted to like more than I really did.

Attachment: 7.5/10 It helps that I have access to this on arcade, otherwise it'd probly not be returned to. We shall see if it grows on me with time and experience.

Overall: 7.3/10

Completion: To Stage 4

Playtime: ~40 mins
