I don't really care for the Grand Prix structure -- you can't really get a feeling for 3/4s of the tracks because you only run about one lap on them. And certain powerups are nigh-useless like bananas when you're not running multiple laps on the track.
I'll try the knockout mode later, that seems interesting.

one of the biggest downgrades from Mario Kart 8 is Luigi no longer death glares you like he is gunna delay, deny, depose after passing your red shelled ass

I really like a good amount of them, but there was never one I loved. When I first played 8, my biggest issue with it was the lack of shortcuts. I don't mean the ones that pro players are doing there they are bypassing checkpoints. I mean those shortcuts that are deliberately designed to be shortcuts and not just cutting corners. Mario Kart World gave me that and then some. Absolutely insane how much you can do in these tracks. This is it. This is the Mario Kart game I wanted.

But right now, I need to talk about the Pro Controller 2. It is insane how good of a controller this is mainly due to its joysticks. I severely underestimated it. Try smacking the joysticks against the bezels. It is so quiet and smooth. Rotate the joysticks around the bezels. You need to give the Pro Controller 2 a try at the very least.

Hope everyone who got the new console is enjoying it so far. I know I am enjoying the Mario kart world so far!! Who knows if anything will ever top Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for me, but so far it's..... more addicting Mario Kart racing goodness 😄

Soooo hyped for this console, although a little sad there is only one launch title, with the rest being just upgrades. That's okay, I have more backlog on Steam to work on, and I haven't played tears of the kingdom yet, so I'll be looking for a used copy of that most likely, to avoid paying the full price. Sounds like the cheaper and smarter way to do these upgrades. Hyped for Metroid prime 4 which will be later this year. MKW will give me countless hours of fun for now!!

I picked mine up not long ago. I didn’t go to a midnight launch, partly because I didn’t buy from EB games (don’t like shopping there), but also because my kids are too young still. The store I went to had a morning launch and opened early. We got there a bit late as others were walking out and missed a little of the excitement but it was still nice and good to see others getting out there. Staff did tell me that things were very busy just before we arrived.
First impression is really good. The packaging is great as expected from Nintendo and the Switch 2 as a whole feels and looks more premium than the first. Everything looks similar but nicer. The store is quicker and snappier. System transfer was quick and very simple. The new Joy Cons are great and I like the way they snap on and stay solid. I picked up a Pro controller too and I have the same thing to say again, similar but better. The Switch 2 cases look better in person but I still don’t like all the red at the top and plenty of them have fine print on the front too. The cases also feel weaker. Colourful spines back again is excellent though.
Mario Kart World is fantastic so far but I have only played a little. There are lots of cool details. If you like Mario Kart then don’t worry it is good. I might write a review once I have had a lot more time with it. That is all I grabbed though. I won’t be supporting game key card nonsense. I might give in and buy the welcome tour game. My son is interested in it but it should not be $15 extra. I’m also thinking about getting Fast Fusion. I’ll try the GameCube games soon too.
Overall really happy with it and my kids are too. We’re having a good day. I hope anyone else jumping in or about to jump in has a great launch day.

Alas, I can't wait to play the new game!! As a Nintendo hater critic since the Wii, I am finally satisfied and happy that Nintendo cares more about hardware and visuals and performance with the Switch 2!! 4k 120fps in select games, and 1440p, 60fps for Mario Kart World, docked. That is alright with me since it is an open world, 32 racer game. Metroid Prime 4 should be even better. So, the price tag is more justified for me because of the bigger improvement in resolution and performance. I'm not, and never will be a handheld guy anymore, so I'm all about docked.
