I'm not sure how to go about reviewing something like Guitar Hero (or Rock Band). I've played various entries of these over the years, always at friends' houses since I never owned any of the games myself (or any of the instrument peripherals). These games are great though, and if I see Guitar Hero at the arcade I always play it. See the notes fly down rhythm-game style, and strum away. I never got that good at (either at the guitar, or any of the other instruments), but it's a lot of fun and is one of the ultimate party games with friends. Too bad this was ultimately kind of just a fad that fizzled out within a decade, but at least it was a cool fad.
To this day, I have never figured out what is the difference between Guitar Hero and Rock Band. I assume they were different game dev studios of course (and in turn, probably different controllers?), but I could never tell a single thing that wasn't the exact same between the two. It's kind of interesting and rare for two franchises to get so big, and have so little to tell them apart from each other.
