Epic Pinball is the ultimate PC pinball collection in the true-to-life 1990's pinball style. Originally released as shareware on floppy disks, the first release included 8 tables: Android, Pot of Gold, Excalibur, Crash & Burn, Magic, Jungle Pinball, Deep Sea and Enigma. Later versions would contain an updated version of Android called "Super Android".

Graphics/Sound:

Back in the day this was the best looking pinball game. The graphics also look nice today, although there won't be much feeling of realism today. The sound is, as with all Epic Megagames Games, one of the major strengths of the product. This company certainly had some of the best sound designers of the era. Sadly some of it nowadays sounds a bit scratchy, but it's still awesome.

Gameplay:

To me it was the ultimate PC pinball game, it was never surpassed. There is lots of variety throughout the tables, some of them like the deep sea table are filled with boatloads of points you can get, and you can easily play for hours raising your points to infinity. In others like the casino one, the table is very clean and it's hard to even gather 1000 points. It's great how they managed to get a different game feel out of all those tables while keeping them all basic pinball tables. All except Enigma of course, where they totally went overboard with effects and weirdness.

Difficulty:

Difficulty varies from table to table, and some of them feel more unfair than others. But pinball games are mostly about getting the highscores, and this works pretty well here. If one plays more one will eventually get the best highscore so it's not all luck but also skill is needed.

Conclusion:

Epic Pinball for me is a must for people interested in Dos era gaming. It's imo the best pinball game on the PC, I never had more fun with one.
