Not as good as those people said in 2024. The movements of the players looks wired and robotic. Can't see why they say it's better than the latter games.

May be good in 2017 though.

Same shit, different package

The singleplayer they made is complete useless garbage. Gameplay hasn't changed for like 10 yrs already and yet somehow the games isn't as bad as it should be. Playing with your mates is fun.

A very good version of FIFA - the stars relate to "The Journey"

For a few years now I have been continually frustrated with the difference between the (soulless) single player modes and the (frenetic, shakey, uneven) multiplayer experience. I don't care about the Ultimate Team mode - I play FIFA, like Football Manager, as a simulation primarily. That's why The Journey is a breath of fresh air. Paired with Seasons mode, where you pick real teams rather than ones stocked with players drawn from "packs" as in FUT, there's a chance for on- and offline to be more joined up.

I used to religiously play the FIFA career mode - I could beat the AI on Legendary at my peak. Then I began to play Seasons exclusively and my ability to beat the AI almost completely disappeared. They really are different games in that the football plays completely differently.

I really enjoyed The Journey once I switched the speed to slow and learnt a few of the key training routines (I do think some like Switching the Play and the advanced Keep the Ball are more-or-less broken and/or counter-intuitive however). Creating a 'Pro' who looks like you (or some strange clown like figure perhaps, unless you look like a strange clown) really does seem like a relic of the past. The RPG elements work well because at its core, playing a sim like Fifa or FM often involves you actively imagining yourself in that situation.

My only issue with The Journey is that, on the whole, the AIs really do approach the game in almost the exact same way each game. It makes learning how to win arduous but rewarding, but it also means that you lose the tactical flexibility of real football. Perhaps this is a blessing considering that when locked to a player you can never change the tactics and have to rely on the AI to manage your team and formation.
