MKW is a real-time strategy game with city building and some elements from grand strategy games.

Review

This developer also made Kingdom Wars 2, the worst RTS of all time. MKW is slightly less terrible but it suffers from many of the same flaws. The overall visual presentation and especially the interface are bad. It's needlessly difficult to see exactly what is going on. Sometimes you're not sure if the game accepted the orders you've given because it's so unclear if the unit/building responds. It would help a lot if units/building options stood out more and clearly indicated their status. E.g. have a clear banner and icons to indicate stuff like "using fire arrows" above them.

There are many other problems, but the main one is that the game is boring. Really, really boring. A substantial amount of that time i was reading stuff on my phone while the game was holding my hand or basically playing by itself. MKW and KW2 have the least dynamic combat i have ever seen in a RTS. There's no tactics, there's no micro, there's no player abilities/spells, there's no manouvering, etc. It's just groups of people being ordered to attack other blobs of people. Once they're engaged you can basically go and make a sandwich.

I'd recommend any other strategy game series instead. Total War, StarCraft, Europa Universalis, King Arthur, etc. Anything but this. MKW isn't worth the €1 it costs on Fanatical, let alone the ridiculous normal price.
