Pokemon XD is a sequel to the role-playing game Pokémon Colosseum. You'll play as Michael, a Pokémon trainer who is trying to thwart the evil Cipher. Cipher plans to control the world by using the powerful, but unpredictable, shadow Pokémon. Now you must fight back by collecting your own shadow Pokémon and beating Cipher's goons in battle. Pokémon XD also lets you import Pokémon from Game Boy Advance Pokémon games and participate in head-to-head battles with other players.

Octjillery's review of Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness
This review is for the Nintendo GameCube version

This one made improvements to some of the issues present in Colosseum, namely the weirdly unbalanced damage (you doing less to opponents than you should, but them doing the expected damage to you).

I remember less of the premise of this one for some reason, but I DO remember LOVING the music in the "old folks town." Agate Village, I think? It might have been the music in the little forest glade that you go into to release the shadow hearts and not the actual village, but it's somewhere in there.

Also, you got to pick which Eeveelution you wanted this time, which was cool.

Also also, Lugia, one of my favorite Legendaries. <3

sigh. flashes of the future here in how boring and behind the times pokemon is and always has been, gameplay-wise. just a series of menus, baby.

lacks the same tightness and charm as colosseum, but still has delightful delightful animations. you want to train the pokemons cause theyre dynamic and silly and cool looking, instead of the static dead-eyed stuff in scarlet and violet.

killed shadow lugia and theres no way to get it back so i gave up and didnt finish
