Musiche ottime. Consigliatissimo, concluso in 8-9 ore …

Charming, but repetitive

Disgaea is a tactics game with emphasis in grinding. Which sounds odd, but it's all about the feel of being strong, min max numbers, and levelling up. There's always something to do in Disgaea, so it's an infinite game...in theory.

Disgaea is a tactics game with emphasis in grinding. Which sounds odd, but it's all about the feel of being strong, min max numbers, and levelling up. There's always something to do in Disgaea, so it's an infinite game...in theory.

If you don't like the number side of the game, you can still play it and have an enjoyable time. The throw mechanic is an EXCELLENT addition to the tactics genre that makes you think some steps (or should I say, jumps??) ahead. The journey to the story conclusion is enjoyable.

However, if you play Disgaea like your average tactics game, you're going to miss a lot, which I feel it's my own case. The story is funny, the high moments are good, but has some staleness. Mechanically, it's ok. Positioning takes a big part early game, which is good, but slowly is taken away by better units and abilities. In the end, the stats game, which is the main trait of the series, just doesn't appeal to me that much.

Before this review I always thought I loved Disgaea, but thinking back, and being truly honest with myself, it's not that great. Strangely enough, Disgaea is a very trim down on rails RPG, which has nothing wrong with it. You can make your own fun in many ways in Disgaea, but we have to accept that it's just not for everyone, it's a niche concept.

It doesn't have the rich story of FFT, neither the careful crafted scenarios of Advance Wars, and it's just not as fun as Mario RPG. Disgaea in some ways crafted its own genre. It might be for you, and it's cool, but for me, it's charming, but repetitive.

A tactical RPG with a lot of charm, jokes, and grinding. Despite my dislike for grinding and tactical combat, Disgaea just makes it work.
