A solid little 2D fighting game, filled with anime characters (technically characters from novels... but they all got anime too). I played through a bunch of the character stories for this one on the Vita, and I think it's a nice fit there for some quick rounds of fighting here and there. The controls felt simpler than stuff like Blazblue, perhaps more comparable to something like Persona 4 Arena (combos are pretty straightforward). All the characters are fun, but there just aren't a lot of them. The roster is much bigger and more varied for your partner character, who just jumps in for an extra attack from time to time. Very good-looking game though, and it's always nice to have Shizuo throw a bunch of vending machines at Kirito.

One weird thing is that the stages are not related to any of the characters -- instead the levels are based on random Sega properties. That's cute and all, but it doesn't fit for this game... and makes me just wish we can finally have a proper modern Sega crossover fighter. (Fighters Megamix 2 when, Sega? You've done it before Sega, just do it again! Crossover fighters are absolutely in right …
