Review
So, apparently Joe Dever is a writer and he worked on this mobile game based on his books? The character creation is pretty neat, there are some fairly diverse choices here like "talk to animals" or "something very different i already forgot". The game itself starts out as a choose your own adventure book. Do you use green bar to talk to animals are red bar to jump over obstacle or blue bar to find your own way. It's pretty neat.
And then you get to combat. Oh boy. Combat is on a timer. You have to quickly pick an action or lose a turn. And some actions require clicking quickly, clicking at the right time or dragging the mouse in a certain direction. And while there is a decent variety of combat options, it doesn't seem like you can use those skills you picked to affect combat. It's really disappointing and when the second battle started i just quit instead.
