To think KoF started as a humble street fighter knock off and blossomed into a street fighter knock off with good graphics.

Holy fuck those controls are janky, sluggish and the animation takes too long to even execute you'll be dead before you hit it! I thought the SNES version was shit...the original Neo Geo is just as shitty with slightly better graphics!

I hope you're not lactose intolerant, because it's gonna take a lot of cheese to beat this game.

The fighters feel really heavy and the collisions are sometimes really wonky. As for the specials, each character has 4 of them, and the least we can say is that they do not input themselves, you will have to spend some time to train if you want to throw them with decent timing.

The music is quite bland and do not exploit the capabilities of the console, however, i'll blame that on the port since the ost sounds much better in the original arcade version.

Finally, on a graphical standpoint, despite all this we find many good things that do not serve the fight but offer a much more enjoyable look. The most obvious is the introduction with the evolution of the stages over the course of the day, fighting by day, at sunset and at night, but also sometimes under a superb rain effect. On the other hand the small animations of some characters like Hwa Jai who drinks alcohol to increase his strength tenfold, Tung who, in homage to Master Rochi from DragonBall, sees his musculature tenfold, Richard who can hang on to the ceiling, Billy who hides behind his arms when he loses his stick. These little animations makes the game much more unique and enjoyable.

Fatal Fury did not succeed the feat of dethroning the ever so invincible Street Fighter 2. However the game brings good elements to the genre. In the end, an average fighting game, quite inaccessible because of its maneuverability and difficulty but still a classic nonetheless.

Maybe you should try it out ? Who know... Perhaps you can become the next King Of Fighters ! (Well i mean if you really wanna play a FF game you should probably play one of the newer ones.)

2.8/5 would avenge my dead father again.

(Ps : still a better first entry than street fighter 1)

This game reminds me why I don't like fighters but at least it only took about 30 min to beat. I played as the blonde guy Andy and got my ass handed to me. After a few losses I learned how to win by only ever jump kicking. Then I learned how to jump kick followed by a punch to the nuts. Worked well most of the time but I found every enemy to be unique and had to change my strategy a few times. Final boss was very hard and it took a lot of save state scumming to beat the game.

This is a game that I will not rate because I am not a fan of the genre but it seems rather mediocre.
