If you ever step onto Switch, I will love you again like the first time I laid eyes on you.

(kinda 100% except for Free Ride Time Trials which are borderline impossible, even YouTube is struggling and it feels like you need that dumb DLC car for them ... regardless, I'll try to get them done also now. UPDATE: DLC car required so I consider this 100%d)

My most anticipated game this year - manage to live up to the hype?

My most anticipated game this year, after seen several trailers and sneekpeaks. It looked awesome.

My most anticipated game this year, after seen several trailers and sneekpeaks. It looked awesome.

Played through Mafia 1 and 2 earlier this year, didn’t make it through the third.

Bought Old Country on release, which I usually don’t do. I had a birthday-coupon on Webhallen with €15 off. Sold the game later for around the same amount I gave so it was practically free!

They went back to a more linear game this time, as the first two games were. Mafia 3 was more open world. With a great story and fun gameplay this linear experience works great.

It’s a very well told story with great acting, set in an incredible setting in a fictional Sicilian Town. Really cinematic with the feeling of playing a movie sometimes.

The plot is a classic mafia story. Quite early in you’ll be invited to work for a mafia family and from there work your way up through the hierarchy.

Gameplay is fun, similar to what it has been before but way better. Together with the great graphics, environment and music it was a fun game. The knife fight stood out at first, but after a couple of them I did not liked it that much.

Overall a real good game. Only 10-12 hour to play it through, but I thought it was a good length for this.

5 star for me

For me it was one of the best Mafia game.. Really enjoyed it, it was something new, not boring. However the base PS5 is not enough, many times my frame dropped.

The game is very linear, but the story and characters are great and the game is hard to put down once started. However It felt like sometimes the time jumps are too big and there definitely could have been a few more missions in between to fill out the story more.

The game is not really "open-world". You can drive wherever you want, but technically you're always going to be on a mission and there is absolutely nothing waiting for you anywhere in Sicily apart from some collectibles which are meaningless for the most part, so you always just go towards where the story tells you to until you complete the game.

While the story and core gameplay is good, which is what you would expect from a mafia game it's just sad that they did not spend more time on this game to give it more missions to fill out the blanks, give reasons to actually explore the beautiful map they created.

The game is cheaper that most new releases these days so maybe that's why it feels rushed and not really a full on mafia game but more of a spin-off thats focused solely on telling a new story as quickly as possible

This game is alright but I think should be 10 dollars less. I traded in a ton of games at GameStop so I didn't pay anything for it. The game has been advertised as having a much more focused narrative compared to the previous titles that had a pseudo-open world to full open world but, but those presented their own issues (I'm looking at you Mafia 3) that gamers didn't gel with. That said, the developers seem to have approached the game with a structure very akin to old PS2-PS3 era games with one mission going into the next. The story is very basic and has callbacks to previous titles and some characters from said titles appear in here (won't say who, but from the time period you can take a guess). Clocking in at around 10 hours or so, the game doesn't overstay its welcome or having unnecessary padding - a giant plus considering Mafia 3 was a disappointment when it came to repetitive nature. Graphics look very good and the environment is very well made. Gunplay reminds me of Mafia Definitive Edition so it can be as intense or short as it can be - the use of stealth is pretty busted as you can really abuse the stealth mechanics to bypass a lot of the sections that you could run and gun.

I haven't said much of the story but that's because I do think mafia fans will enjoy this game, not sure on newcomers but hey, this in storylines is the beginning of it all...just don't pay full price for it or get it at a decent sale and pinch it out in a weekend. That's the best way to describe it - a good game you'd rent back in 2006 for a weekend and have a good time with :)

It is a bummer the possible 70s Vegas version of Mafia 4 never got made, but this one seems interesting, getting to play in Sicily during the early days of the mob.
