Hohokum is a colorful exploration based adventure game. Players control a space worm, flying around rescuing people from their city under distress. Hohokum is a collaboration between Honeyslug, an independent game developer based in North London, and Richard Hogg, an artist and designer. After launching as a web-based gaming experiment in 2010, Hohokum comes to PlayStation consoles now fully formed thanks to a collaboration with game design studios Honeyslug and SCE Studios Santa Monica, delivering the same unique exploration experience in a refined and expansive adventure waiting to be explored!

Great to play with kid

Really enjoyed exploring this world with my daughter. Probably the best game I can remember at just letting a kid try things to see what fun happens as a result.

deepdoop's review of Hohokum

8/10

It's really quite a good game visually. The world is lovely to look at, alive and yes, a little bit odd. It's a joy to see what things will do, and listen to the mostly calming music as you do so.

The navigation is a little wonky though, having to remember where every thing is. This may seem silly but when you have a game that's pretty relaxing like this one, it breaks the immersion a little bit when you're frustrated because you can't remember how to get to a particular place.

The gameplay might not appeal to people as well, since really all you do is hit things. You just run into things and they do stuff. I liked it, but this is a different type of game so there is a large group of people who it won't appeal to at all.

Boy of boy did that Annapurna showcase really work overtime in the emotional manipulation department, lol. I nearly died when the Alma put her paw on Fabian's hand when meeting him for the first time during the Yarn Owl segment, not to mention all the other hard hitting feels in that story and basically every other story.

Also excited I can buy Hohokum for my Steam Deck and pretend it's actually a Vita!

Couldn't get into this one at all, unfortunately. I needed a bit more of a hook than just fly around and see stuff, though I'm not totally against that sort of thing. The stuff to see here is certainly bright and colorful, but the level of interaction was not as significant as I think they made it out to be. Perhaps if everything was a bit funnier I would've found it a cute little diversion, but the "not-quite-jokes" jokes didn't do it for me. (Or on the flip side, if the "weirdness" was cranked up a few notches I perhaps would've found it interesting to keep exploring just to see what else I'd find -- but everything I encountered felt pretty tame.)
