It's a fairly generic RPG with dungeon crawling and lots of grinding. However, I played this to get to Lufia II and I have no regrets.

I'm really enjoying this game, but there are still a lot of frustrating things about it. It was released less than a year before Final Fantasy VI, but it was lightyears behind it in quality of gameplay. I'm looking forward to my review.

Finished with the team's levels around 55. Lufia herself spent the entire final boss fight dead because of the boss' hit all confusion attack. I chose to play the "uncensored" edition, which was a bad idea because spells names and some monster names were nonsense (or Japanese). I had to try out the normal edition to see what the spell names were like, and they are the same names used in Lufia 2. There was also a bugged enemy in the final dungeon that was called an earth elemental, looked like a giant and hit for 999 damage. I will assume that whoever made the uncensored hack screwed up the game.

Really not enjoying this battle system... and the game seems generic overall.

Playing for the first time since I was eight. Only a few minutes into it and I can tell you that one gripe I have is how if an enemy is dead, anyone who was previously targeting that enemy will "miss" because the target doesn't change. Reminds me of the first Final Fantasy in that regard. Drives me nuts.
